Property Tax Protest options

Options For Filing Property Tax Appeal

Option 1  |  Submit your Report Online

The Online Protest is your Informal Hearing. You will use your Property ID and Online Protest ID, both of which are found on your Appraisal Notice, to login to Fort Bend Central Appraisal District’s Online Protest system.

The FBCAD Online Protest System allows you to perform basic functions related to your appeal.  The diagram below illustrates some of the tasks that can be efficiently handled using the FBCAD Online Protest System.  View step-by-step instructions for submitting your evidence online

After submitting your Property Tax Reduction Report, FBCAD will review your evidence and either (1) make an offer for a reduction in your assessed value, or (2) request that you present your evidence at the ARB (Appraisal Review Board) hearing.  The ARB is a private, impartial group of citizens authorized to resolve disputes between taxpayers and the appraisal district. They hold property tax appeal hearings for protests not settled during the Informal Hearing.  View tips for an ARB hearing.  Note: Not all properties are eligible for the Online Protest.  If your property is eligible for an Online Protest, you will have an Online Protest ID located on the Notice of Protest form you received from the appraisal district.  If you’re not eligible, please review Options 2 & 3 for completing your protest.

How the Montgomery County Online Protest Works

Option 2 | Submit your Report In-Person

File your protest by completing and mailing the Notice of Protest form to:

Fort Bend Central Appraisal District | 2801 B. F. Terry Blvd |  Rosenberg, Texas 77471

Shortly after filing your protest, you will receive a letter informing you of your ARB hearing date.  At any time prior to your scheduled ARB hearing date, you can appear for an Informal Hearing to meet one-on-one with a FBCAD representative to try and settle your case.

If you are unable to agree on a value at your Informal Hearing, you will take your case to the ARB for your Formal Hearing.

Option 3 | Submit your Report Via Mail

File your protest by completing and mailing the Notice of Protest form to:

Fort Bend Central Appraisal District | 2801 B. F. Terry Blvd |  Rosenberg, Texas 77471.

Shortly after filing your protest, you will be notified via mail of your ARB hearing date.

If you are unable to attend your ARB hearing in person, you may submit your Property Tax Reduction Report via mail with a completed affidavit.  The ARB will review your evidence and notify you via mail of the final determined valuation.
